Choral Music                                                                                   Course # U450

Prerequisite: None                                                                             1.0 Credit

This course offers instruction in vocal techniques, score reading and includes the study of mixed chorus literature. This group has performances which may require after-school rehearsals.

Digital Recording                                                                           Course # U135

Co-requisite: Digital Art                                                                     0.5 Credit

This semester course is designed to introduce students to the latest music technology as well as to help students be able to write and record their own music using a computer and keyboard.  Students will have a chance to record a final project and burn it to a CD.

 Books/ Materials: GarageBand 3 (Create and record music on a iMac).

This course is a semester course required of each student so that the student can become a knowledgeable consumer of music.  Experiences will include: learning about performing artists and composers of today; studying about and attending musical theatre performances; studying the five elements of music through listening; reviewing various cultural genres and historical periods of music; learning how to critique and compare qualities of musical performances; and learning about musical opportunities for the non-professional musician.

Music Theory                                                                                 Course # U134

                                                                                                            0.5 Credit

This course offers instruction in vocal techniques, score reading and includes the study of mixed chorus literature. Additional study of the historical development of one or more current styles of music, such as popular, folk, rock and gospel is included.  Studying the five elements of music through listening and reviewing various cultural genres and historical periods of music is included.
